• Obtain a letter from their employer confirming their position with the business.
• Take three fresh passport photographs or gather three current ones.
• Obtain a health certificate from an establishment in Vietnam or the worker's place of origin.
• Fill out the work visa application form, gather all the required paperwork, and deliver it to the Vietnam Department of Labor.

• Obtaining a notice of pre-approval from their Local Employees Department for the use of foreign labour.

• A work permit that has been issued has a maximum validity of two years and may be renewed once for an additional two years. The employer of a foreign worker must submit a dossier of application for extension of the work permit to the provincial Department of Labor, Invalids, and Social Affairs at least five days, but no more than 45 days before the work permit expires.
• A foreigner employed in Vietnam under a contract would sign a new labour agreement with his employer before the day the foreign worker is anticipated to start working again after having his work visa extended.
